Six BS Development Communication students are currently participating in a science journalism workshop organized by the Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) of the Department of Science and Technology in partnership with the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development.

Entitled "#ScienceJournoAko: Communicating the Benefits of Biotechnology," the activity is being held at the Brentwood Suites in Diliman, Quezon City as part of the 13th National Biotechnology Week.

Representing the College of Development Communication (CDC) are junior students Von Henzley Consigna, Cesar Ilao III, and Maryam Tubio, as well as senior students Stephanie Edora Manrilla, Rhemil Palileo, and Samatha Johanna Timbreza.

The workshop includes a talk about science communication by Dr. Aristotle Carandang, chief of the Communication Resources and Production Division of STII; a lecture about crafting effective science stories by Ruby Shaira Panela, a freelance science writer; a writeshop focusing on a health biotechnology product; and critiquing session.

Earlier in the year, CDC was also invited to participate in a science journalism writeshop focusing on space technology.
