CDC conducts workshop on QA of its GS programs

1 October 2018 by CSBucu

The College of Development Communication (CDC) is currently holding a workshop on total quality assessment at the Drilon Hall of the SEARCA Building.

Entitled "Total Quality Assessment: Towards a Roadmap for TQM-Compliant CDC Graduate Programs," the workshop draws from the results of the benchmarking conducted by CDC with higher education institutions offering communication programs that have been awarded as center of excellence or center of development by the Commission on Higher Education. It aims to identify a model or standards that may be used to benchmark total quality assessment of CDC graduate programs, draw up a road map toward pursuing TQM-compliant MS and PhD programs, and write down short-term workable actions to start up the long-term road map.

In her opening remarks, CDC Dean Dr. Ma. Theresa H. Velasco emphasized the importance of the workshop and the benchmarking in light of the most recent university rankings that saw the University of the Philippines moving up the ranks. She said that internal reviews help a higher education institution maintain quality of instruction and be at par with other institutions in the region.

UPLB Graduate School dean, Dr. Jose V. Camacho, Jr., as well as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Portia Lapitan, congratulated the CDC for this initiative because it helps improve the quality of the graduate courses in development communication. They also highlighted the support by the administration to such initiatives in line with the university's commitment to excellence.
