CDC Student Council 2017-2018 take oath of office

Members of the College of Development Communication (CDC) Student Council for school year 2017-2018 gathered at the CDC Dean's Office at 10 a.m. today, August 1, for an oath-taking ceremony. 

Elected last April, the following students took their oath of office before CDC Dean Dr. Ma. Theresa H. Velasco, CDC College Secretary aProf. Hermilea Marie C. Castillo, and Department of Educational Communication chair Dr. Edmund G. Centeno:

CDC Chairperson: John Derrick Ordoņez 
CDC Vice Chairperson: Cielo Anne C. Pabella
CDC Representative to the USC: Almira Bianca C. Baldoza

CDC Councilors:

After the oath-taking, Dean Velasco discussed with the students the council's responsibilities as student leaders and asked them about their flagship projects and upcoming activities. While the council has yet to present its major projects for the school year, CDC Chairperson Ordoņez mentioned that the members are currently organizing the CDC Freshman Night. The said activity will be held on August 14 5-7 p.m. at the CDC rooftop. 

The council also plans to increase student participation in the college through the upcoming Devcolympics in preparation for the Palarong UPLB 2017. It also plans to continue the efforts on mental health awareness started last semester through student support and other activities. 

aProf. Castillo also reminded everyone present in the ceremony that starting this semester, students from UP Rural High School (UPRHS) will be in the premises of CDC to take up a special development communication appreciation course. The council was asked to extend courtesy to the UPRHS senior high school students and to make them feel welcome in CDC.
