DEVC 199 classes hold seminar series
24 February 2017 by KSGCatapang
This semester's DEVC 199 (Undergraduate seminar) classes launched on February 13 (Monday) a five-part seminar series about the conduct of research, with the first installment focusing on qualitative coding, analysis, and writing.
Invited as resource person was Dr. Pamela A. Custodio from the Department of Development Journalism. Her session was organized by students supervised by Dr. Benjamina Paula G. Flor and aProf. Sherwin Joseph C. Felicidario. Dr. Custodio was also the resource person for the second session on qualitative research, which was conducted on February 20. This time, the seminar was organized by the class of aProf. Trina Leah T. Mendoza.
The DEVC 199 seminar series aims to help students currently undertaking undergraduate research in development communication to process their data, analyze the results of their research, and communicate their findings by writing the thesis. It serves as a quick refresher to students after taking up DEVC 197 (Introduction to Communication Research) in the previous semesters.
In the next three Mondays of March, the seminar series will cover quantitative coding, quantitative analysis, and writing the manuscript for quantitative research. These sessions will be organized by the remaining DEVC 199 sections handled by other CDC faculty.
