Technical writing workshop held in Leyte

2 May 2017 by JCalub-Bautista

CDC faculty members acted as resource persons during the workshop on Technical Development Writing from April 18 to 20 at the Visayas State University campus in Baybay, Leyte. The workshop is the second in a series of five training seminars being organized by the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF). The thirty-five participants included municipal, city, and provincial agriculture and fisheries council (AFC) coordinators, as well as PCAF Region 8 and Central Office staff members.

Topics and activities were similar to those in the first workshop, but were adjusted to fit the needs of participants. Asst. Prof. Sherwin Joseph Felicidario provided the workshop overview and discussed communication needs analysis and information processing. Asst. Prof. Trina Mendoza handled sessions on technical writing and editing, while Asst. Prof. Jyasmin Calub-Bautista discussed the various formats of written materials, as well as clear and effective writing. On the last day of the workshop, participants prepared, presented, and critiqued their own letters, memoranda, minutes of meetings, and resolutions.

Upcoming workshops will be held in Lipa City, Batangas; Davao City; and Muņoz, Nueva Ecija in July and August 2017.
